Ingredients

  • 5 ½ C. All-Purpose Flour

    2 tsp. Salt

    2 tsp Sugar

    2 packages Active Dry Yeast

    2 tsp Garlic Powder

    2 tsp Oregano

    1 tsp Dried Thyme

    1 tsp Dried Basil

    ½ tsp Black Pepper

    2 Tbsp Olive Oil

    2 cup warm water (105-115*)

    Shredded Parmesan

    Shredded Mozzarella

    Spurzile’s Lemon-Rosemary Butter, softened

For the Bread

1
  1. Mix the yeast in warm water. Set aside and let proof for 10 minutes, or until bubbles begin to form.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, salt, sugar, garlic powder, oregano, thyme, basil, and black pepper.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  4. Gently knead the dough either directly in the bowl or on a lightly floured surface, until smooth and elastic.
  5. Lightly oil a bowl, place dough in the bowl, cover with towel, and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat oven to 425*F.
  7. Punch down dough, and place on a medium baking sheet.
  8. Pat down dough so it fills the whole pan.
  9. Use your thumb to press indents sporadically throughout the dough.
  10. Take your Spurzile’s butter and spread evenly over the surface, 2-3 Tbsp worth, or as much or as little as desired.
  11. Next, sprinkle parmesan and mozzarella over the dough.
  12. Bake at 425*F for 13-15 minutes, or until dough is baked through.
  13. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

You can really use any type of cheese you desire on top, but parmesan and mozzarella give the best cheesy crispy combination with a punch of flavor.
